As students at Oxford Brookes University we are entitled to use the \'Hallnet\' service from our Halls of Residence. BUT what are we paying for Our service is quite often impossible or frustrating to use due to frequent service dropouts. When it IS working the service can be incredibly slow. We are banned for using programs such as \'skype\' when for many it is the only feasible way of communicating with family and friends. We are not allowed to use networking equipment such as wireless - even when it is properly set up. Hallnet staff often ignores complaints about the service - or too frequently blame the user. I have had enough - as a computing student I require reliable access to the Internet, and to other services such as CS3 over telnet. This petition will make up my final complaint - which will be forwarded to higher authority than Hallnet staff. Please take the time to sign this petition- even if it is nearing the end of the year - many of you will stay in halls, or other options like Sinnet Court where Hallnet is also available. Even if you\'re not - think of all the money you\'ve spent over the last year on this second rate \'service\' I also invite you to complain to Hallnet yourselves. [email protected] but please people keep your complaints clean, and non threatening :) I would like to point out that the aim of this petition is not to cause problems for people, or get anyone sacked. I simply want to raise a greater voice so maybe they will take notice. Best regards Tom
