In 19-- I was a member of an U.S.A.F installation team that was instrumental in installing the microwave equipment that sat in a small building on the ridge. If memory serves it was a relay between Hickam AFB and Bellows AFS. Indeed, the stairway should be preserved.

This site is a national treasure. It should be re-opened.

Please save this wonderful resource. Please work to find access to the base of the stairs that will avoid crossing private property and therefore avoid the need for a security guard. This truly historic and unique trail must be considered for the common good for all that live and visit our wonderful state of Hawaii. Mahalo.

Haiku stairs is an historical treasure that leads to a place with breathtaking views that attract visitors from around the world. It should not be removed or have its access restricted in anyway.

This stairs can be a huge tourist attraction and benefit the city with additional tax revenue, lets not spend millions to destroy it, lets spend the money to preserve it so I can produce money for the future of our great state

MSN posted online the list of the most beautiful places for each state. The Haiku Stairway to Heaven was listed as Hawaii's most beautiful place. Although I have not been on the Stairway in 10 years, knowing that it is there for people to experience the beauty of the Windward side is a gift. It needs to be repaired and opened for everyone to enjoy as long as they are physically fit to do so. Aloha

Exploring the island should not be illegal. Please use our taxpayer dollars to open up safe and perhaps even limited access.
