I have many friends and their failies who live in Pascoag and I believe this is just a bad move. All about $$$. My town of Blackstone, MA would be included in the fall out from the plume--on a windless day. There are far reaching health concerns that include towns in both MA and RI. The town of Uxbride, which abuts Blackstone just stopped a similar plant from being built, and now we are in the "plume zone" for the Pascoag Plant. There are too many natural areas and waterways which will be in danger from the construction of this plant. Somebody has to put the well being of the residents of Pascoag and all of the surrounding towns before the almighty dollar!

This is endangering the lives of wildlife and endangered species and humans alike. The list is endless! Please stop this from becoming a reality! I was born and raised in Pascoag on Town Farm Rd., only several miles from this proposed site. My mother still resides there, and I love going back as often as I can to see her and enjoy the peace and quiet of my hometown. I have been living in the central valley of California for 8 years now, working as an engineering manager, project manager, sr. mechanical engineer, and sr. chemical engineer. My companies business is creating new clean technologies for biofuels, corn ethanol, and cellulosic ethanol industries. I design plants, bolt-on sub-plants, and technological processes and machinery to create new and clean energy from agricultural waste streams. I am extremely familiar with fracking, and Natural Gas power plants, and they are anything but "clean" technologies. They are extremely wasteful, inefficient, and toxic. They make people like me, and companies like mine, which are actually “clean-tech” companies, look bad by attempting to claim they are clean themselves. It’s simply not the case.
Not only as a concerned past citizen, but as a Professional Engineer, I deeply oppose this proposed power plant due to the extreme threat all surrounding areas will face. There is absolutely NO incentive for the people of Burrillville to accept this plan. Living in California (which ironically has the toughest EPA regulations) has opened my eyes up to issues that occur through mass industrialization. For example, look at California cities like Stockton, Bakersfield, Kettleman City. Besides becoming the huge eyesores that we see today, there have been horrible stories coming out of these areas including chemical pollution, air pollution, and water pollution. Central Valley cities now account for 3 of the top 5 most polluted cities in the country, and 5 of the top 10. The movie “Erin Brockovich” was actually based on Kettleman City, wherein PG&E had contaminated the town’s drinking water with hexavalent chromium (a major toxin which is specially called out for R
