this is not an uneducated walkout, you don’t understand how it feels to be scared for your life by just going to school, these are different times than when you were in high school. we are not doing this walkout to take away your second amendment rights, we are doing this to bring attention to gun violence on school grounds and demand that something has to be done. the same old same old is not working anymore. i hope you decide to support us or at least have an open mind

My school allowed us to all-out during the ICE Scare. I may not know these kids, but I have a great feeling that these kids are responsible.

The coward(s) are minors who wisely chose not to post their info on the WWW. They are probably friends of your daughter. History is filled with young visionaries like the kids from Parkland and Guyer. It was a 13 year old girl who brought about the landmark Supreme Court ruling that students do not "shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate." (Tinker v. Des Moines- February 24, 1969) Or what about Malala Yousafzai (1997– ) Pakistani schoolgirl who defied threats of the Taliban to campaign for the right to education for girls. Or Claudette Colvin who when she was 15, she refused to move to the back of the bus and give up her seat to a white person — nine months before Rosa Parks did the very same thing. Point is, lose the conspiracy theories and commend them for their actions and passion. One of the kids is willing to speak with you personally if you still want further verification.

If you think this is just a bunch of teens trying to leave school early then I don't think you understand what we're trying to do. If you don't believe teens have a place in politics then tell me how much better the adults are doing.If you want to give consequences to the kids for wanting to change things even though it most certainly has a big impact on us, then I think we know who's "side" you've chosen.

I do not support an uneducated walkout to support more legislation undoing our Constitutional rights. Maybe if these kids were taught the constitution and why we have such rights they would think differently. Or maybe if everyone stopped accepting the official narrative and asked some real questions we could see what is really going on. As a former curriculum coordinator for Denton ISD, I strongly urge you to allow DISD students to join people across the country in asking legislators to make our schools safer by passing sensible gun restrictions.

As the future of our nation, students should be free to exercise their first amendment right to peacefully protest. I fully support these minors who choose to participate in their government at such a young age. I admire their passion for this cause, and their eagerness to educate others. We should empower our youth to stand for causes they believe in, and not discourage them, even if we disagree with their opinion.
