We moved to the Sartell area two years ago and were surprised to find that there was no community library. Our children love to read, I believe this is in part due to taking them to the library since birth to look for books and attend reading groups as toddlers.

It is my belief that the Sartell Library and Community Center should be centrally located in Sartell. It should be located near schools and the broader based resident population. Not near the St. Cloud border.

Within the library there should be space for smaller meeting rooms and a larger conference room. Please stop approving new developments that are taking away our natural resources.

Libraries are a place for communal learning, engagement, and entertainment for people of all backgrounds, and for people of all ages--from early childhood to senior citizens. It is a place that puts everyone on equal terms, and therefore requires equal access. With home development sprawling in many directions, particularly toward Blackberry Ridge in the last decade, I feel a more centralized site makes more sense to be inclusive and useful to the whole city of Sartell. For that matter, a more centralized location would be an asset to those attending area schools, given the location of those schools. Looking into the future, a more centralized library, and a real library in general, is a resource that will benefit the city much more than a piecemeal section of the currently planned Community Center, which will have competing interests that will likely marginalize the utilization of that space. The half cent sales tax, aside from infrastructural upkeep, was meant to deliver on promises made many years ago. It needs to be used responsibly with functionality and purpose in mind. When speaking of reserving funds for community centers, the library was listed first, then the senior center, in the official Sartell city website's own half cent sales tax .PDF presentation.

A library would be a great asset to Sartell. With all the 'little library' posts popping up on lawns around the community, it's easy to see the area's hunger for a library. However, looking at a map, its clear from the distribution of housing in Sartell that the southern site doesn't make logistical sense. People living in the Celebration area or those on Sartell's east side would especially have a hard time getting to that southern location in the winter. A centrally located library(and frankly community center) would provide school children easy access to walk/bike over to, and a short drive for everyone else. Possible sites I think would be located more conveniently for everyone are: 1) the lot next to Bernicks Pepsi Arena 2) the City Hall area or 3) a little further out, but probably easier for traffic flow, is the land at the intersection of Heritage and Roberts Road. Let's make this library an asset convenient for everyone to use and enjoy.

Please reconsider the Community Center location so that we can have a library in Sartell. The location site choosen which is not in Sartell School District is a travesty for the community. That in addition to this site not including the library, which funds were already earmarked for makes me think you pushed this through without fully taking everything into account. I've lived in this city 6 years and Sartell has been looking forward to this Community Center far longer than that. Let's go back to the drawing board and find a site that will be in Sartell School District. This community deserves it.

We should have the library in the central location/in between Oak Ridge and middle school . Having the library closer to schools would allow them to pick up the books on their way back home The kids from all four schools can have maximum use of it. Kids reading of books is on the decline in America. It would encourage not only kids but everybody to become readers when they pass by the library.
