Armstrong Park belongs to us, the people of New Orleans and the communities that surround it. The cultural and historical legacy of the park, coupled with its undeniable beauty, makes it a true treasure we must not only admire and appreciate, but also protect, maintain, and nurture. In the spirit of helping the park grow and better serve the community, the People United for Armstrong Park (PUfAP) are endeavoring to create a multi-use greenspace on a small portion of the overflow parking lot of the Mahalia Jackson Theater. This space, at least one acre in size, would provide a flexible space where people may play informal sports, lounge, walk, rest, recreate, and socialize. It also will include a children's playground--an important amenity to the students of the Joseph A. Craig School, which is right across the street. The refurbished Treme Community Center stands to benefit from this proposed greenspace as well. Please pledge your support for this project--your greenspace project--by adding your name and contact details to the petition below. Time is of the essence, since we must get started before the parking lot is repaved. Your participation is important! The success of this future greenspace rests on voices consolidated from all parts of our community and the city as a whole. Thank you! People United for Armstrong Park
