This should be a neighborhood , the proposed project could make this a much busier thoroughfare than it needs to be. Also, any project that will greatly reduce the number of trees should be thought through with more care and caution. We have the bike trail - why not make improvements to that??

Most will be sacrificing a lot to satisfy the cycling community that already has good alternative routes. Will further diminish the already ebbing luster of HP imo.

I'm worried without a buffer between the road/bike lane and the sidewalk, our small kids would be dangerously close to bike and car traffic. Also, I don't know why you'd want to put a dedicated bike lane on a residential street full of driveways. It seems like this will cause a lot of safety issues for cyclists (and drivers) speeding past driveways where cars are constantly backing out. Also the loss of trees and property is very disturbing. I am not ready to give up my land for a civic project that is recreational. We have the 41 bike path and the Green Bay Trail - why do we need another bike lane?

Please save the trees and keep our kids safe by leaving what little parkways we have so that our young children have at least some buffer between the sidewalk and the street.

No bike lane on greenbay. More accidents no trees cutting. There are side walks To busy of a street. Dangerous for chi den as well as adults.

I agree with all of these sincere comments. Unfortunately someone is pursuing this without consideration of the nature and character of Highland Park that has remained since its founding, let alone the interests of home owners on Green Bay. I appreciate and thank everyone for their support.

I believe that the bike lane project will take away all the charm and beauty of entering Highland Park with the vibrant trees in the spring and fall and the snowflake leaves in the winter. Also this is creating another avenue for an accident waiting to happen. In addition we already have a bike path in Highland Park!!! There is no use or purpose to destroy our city!!!

I strongly oppose widening Green Bay Road as well as destruction of existing parkway and trees for any purpose. It strongly appears that City HP has gone to great lengths to provide as little information as possible (and then only a few weeks prior to IDOT phase III) to all stakeholders and constituents. This is strikingly similar to Central Avenue Bridge, where the City went so far as to place initial public notice, not anywhere in Highland Park, but only in a small farming community newspaper in south/central Illinois. And that’s just for starters. Full transparency and meaningful opportunities for public discussion regarding this CMAP procurement of an STP grant need to be allowed before City Council approves the next phase of this ridiculous plan. Categorical exception to environmental survey states that very few objected…this is highly misleading. The City also needs to post the FULL PDR, which should include all public notices as well as internal/external communications regarding this project.

Safety of the many families that live on GB road should be the highest priority! Widening the street, which ALREADY has a speed limit that is WAY too high and leads to speeding, does not accomplish that in any way.
Repair the Green Bay Trail.
