Apparently you do not know the history of this effort. A resident who lives on County Road 5 attended a BOCC meeting back in March of this year and complained about the conditions of the road. Lynn Padgett, commissioner of District 1, told the attendees there was a federal grant available for roads that access public lands and she felt County Road 5 probably met the criteria. I personally left many messages and sent emails to Ms. Padgett to no avail. Our HOA president also tried many times to speak to her about helping with the grant process, also to no avail. I was finally able to get Don Batchelder, commissioner of District 3 and he instructed me to compose a letter and petition, hence this petition. This will be a huge effort on the County's part as a thorough preliminary engineering report of County Road 5 will have to be created as per the requirements of any grant. This request to the BOCC is FAR from short sighted and is exactly what they asked for.

Please improve County Road 5, at least up to 5A.

Hundreds of TOP users use this road. Also used for several weddings each season plus Telluride Academy and cross country skiers plus lots of toursts who drive up for the views.

Between the increased development and public land use CR 5 is seeing more and more traffic. The recent storms caused enormous damage, and even after extensive work recently there is still part of the road that is collapsing. Overhauling the drainage of CR 5 and chip sealing or paving it would be an important investment for Ouray County. Not only would it encourage outdoor recreation and surely boost usage of Top of the Pines, but it would also reduce the ongoing expense to County Roads and Bridges, who currently spends most of their budget maintaining CR 5.

County Road 5 needs improvement. Having traveled it for over 20 years my vehicle has suffered from granite damage including a blown tire from sharp rocks.

County Road 5 is a disaster for 95% of the year - and does a huge disservice to Colorado in terms of what people have to drive on in order to enjoy what we have to offer - or to continue living on or off the road. Please do something to improve its condition...

I own developed propert off of this road and it is in need of improvement.

Please pursue any means you have to pave County Road 5. This road is extremely rough and can be dangerous under the right conditions. Thank you for your attention in this regard.

We live in Elk Meadows and would LOVE to see major improvements to county road 5. We drive this road daily and support all efforts to secure grant money to improve and maintain county road 5.
