Tourist Homes are businesses and then need to be in areas zoned for business. It is simple. The only way to protect Residentially zoned areas is to say No.

I sold my duplex on Ward Park road because of all the problems of the transient home next door.

I sold our duplex at 80 Ward Park because of the problems with a transient home next door. They could pop up anywhere, even next door to us on East Park

We bought our home 37 years ago, it was a great place to raise our 4 children, very peaceful.. NOW we have Tourist Homes 2 doors down from us..We are Not happy.. different people (clans) coming and going a few times a week. I don't feel as safe as I once did. WHAT is happening to our wonderful island??? Keep these homes in the business sections.

I am against Vacation Home rentals. My wife and I have lived with one in our back yard for 4 years. When there are guests, parties are nightly, loud obnoxious people walking into our back yard smoking and walking their pets, then not cleaning up after them. Our community is a patio home with an HOA and specific rules that does not allow us to install a fence to assist with protecting our property. There was a law passed not allowing Vacation Rentals - why change it to satisfy a few.

Stop rentals in residential neighborhoods. Limit rentals to business districts. If we're going to go down this path then even bother with creating zoning laws? Did our Town Board completely forget that we have a huge waterfront hotel, motels and campgrounds which could use their support? If they are bound and determined to make Grand Island a destination, then they are using their efforts the wrong way, in my opinion. And do we really want GI to be the next bustling East Amherst? Hilton Head? OBX? Really?

Problems are cropping up all over the country in smaller cities and towns who are renting their houses out ... I do not want this situation in my town.

Homes that are in residential areas and want to short term rent should have to file for different zoning or temporary permits. Our neighbors can't change their home structure significantly without permit and opportunity for public comment, this is the same! I don't live in a home in a residential zoned neighborhood to live next a vacation property.

Some town board members do not want to honor the intent of residential zoning by allowing tourist homes.

Our Town Board should protect all residents of Grand Island. Tourist homes are not needed on Grand Island.

"Vacation" homes, "Tourist" homes, "transient rentals", etc. are businesses and should be operated only in business zoned areas !
