Granada Hills Charter High School: Anti-Dress Code

I think that the girls should be treated equally to boys because I believe in equality and I think that we should be treated equally. Even though this is just dress code it still counts. Girls wear pants and joggers just like boys so I don't know why we aren't aloud to wear them at school. You should change the dress code and treat girls the same as boys.

It's about time we rectify this overly prudish and antiquated policy.

2013 alumni. Bra straps aren't sexy, and I believe that anything can turn a boy on, that it doesn't relate to what a girl is wearing. I used to wear sweaters on really hot days because my clothes weren't dress code, and I'd end up being sweaty and incredibly uncomfortable throughout my day. If I could have worn my really casual, 100% not sexy, spaghetti strapped dresses, I would have been much happier with school, and I would have been a happier person. Because what you wear is tied to how good you feel about yourself. And in high school I had depression, if I could have dressed nice on hot days it probably would have helped tremendously.

If you read my entire petition, you would see that I understand that this petition alone will not work. That is the problem with people like you these days, you sign things or overhear comments about a petition and think that all I am going to do is a petition and there the end. I am actually currently in the process of writing a proposal as well as collecting data from GHCHS students. If you think that signatures don't matter that's your opinion and I respect that. What I think is delusional is the fact that you sign the petition just to comment and counter it. Why? Do you feel good knowing that you disagree with all these people from not only the United States but 6/7 continents. I am super thankful for your signature though as you gave us our 2100th signature. So congratulations on not reading and making an unnecessary assumption :)

Lol so what happens when the petition reaches 2,200? Do we call it a day and just forget about it? 2,200 or 5,000 signatures, it doesn't matter. Granada is going to look at this petition and just laugh.

While I agree that schools should have a dress code, Granada's is ridiculous. It polices bustier girls for cleavage that they can't help and gives overly stringent rules for a girl's skirt/dress/shorts length. The bra strap rule was always preposterous. Almost all shirts allow for a strap to show and sometimes they just slip but administrators consider this one of the strictest rules. Girls shouldn't be worried about being caught with slightly shorter than fingertip shorts/skirts/dresses on a hot day. They should be focused on school.

This petition makes sense. Teens fighting for something they want.

One of my siblings commented the above "This won't do anything. It's only half the school." I do NOT agree with this. These petitioners are not JUST from Granada, but from everywhere else. This means that a huge force is pushing this petition to be granted. I believe that the dress code should be updated, as it is 2016. But I do not agree with "super short" bottoms.
