I understand the whole petition thing and I'm totally for it if you think it'll make a difference (which it won't) but the thing I like about this is that there are a bunch of girls and even some guys who are coming together for a common cause and trying to make a change which is pretty awesome, so props to you for that. I think an experiment would be more helpful in exposing the school for its sexism/inequality. Get some willing guy to wear the same outfit as a girl and see which one gets dress coded. Id like to see how that would turn out and make sure to share the results with everyone. I see that there are a lot of angry girls who think some aspects of the dress code are not necessary and that they are also understanding of some of the more logical rules. Also I think that for now on, every time a girl gets dress coded, they should ask for the reason why they were dress coded and make sure they take note of the reason they were dress coded. I can only imagine how demeaning it is to walk around with a PE shirt that says "DRESS CODE" . smh. This petition probably won't make a difference and admin will probably ignore it but it's good that you're trying to make a change. Good luck. :) oh and don't forget that when we signed a bunch of papers to follow rules, dress code was included :)

Thank God someone is finally speaking up for us females who are objectifed as sexual beings based simply on what we wear. Screw the dress code.

I support this so much. I hate how some teachers laugh at the students when we talk about how the dress code is ridiculous. This is why I hate Granada.

In my opinion, walking around school avoiding getting dress coded, is more distracting than the dress code itself. Having staff walk around or riding gold carts literally searching for people to dress code is crazy. Dress code should only be taken to a certain extent. I'll never understand what's wrong about wearing yoga pants, ripped jeans, or even having a bralette show. Granada takes dresscode to a whole other level and I have seen guys wear shirts with naked girls on them and nothing has ever happened to them.

I don't even go to this school but I believe dress codes shouldn't be targeted towards just the girls. If you violate a dress code rule, just because you're a boy doesn't mean it doesn't apply to you.

Seeing girls walking around in shirts and shorts that say "DRESS CODE" on them is more distracting than the shoulders, legs, bra straps, or midriff that they are aimed to cover up. It is unfair in the hot summer months for girls to be forced to wear clothes in which they are not comfortable in because a "distraction free environment", is more important than our education. Let us be comfortable and wear as we please, don't make us apologize and be punished with 1hr detention per “violation” for people whom can't control themselves. I will never understand how my shoulders, ripped jeans, bra strap, leggings, or midriff will ever be that offensive and provactive to someone that an authority figure will seek me out and follow me in the hall to reprimand me, shame me, and give me a punishment. But how appropriate is it for you to try to teach me that it matters more what I am wearing, to how someone is to treat me for it. To have a 50 year old man stare at chest for several minutes to tell me if my shirt might be see-through or to stare at my stomach to tell if my midriff appear. I’m tired of wearing pants and a t shirt in 95°-110° weather. I will not be punished for being comfortable in my own body and wearing clothes that I express myself in. If its not distracting outside of school and normal to see everyday, it shouldnt be different inside.

Either change a few rules from the dress code not all of coarse we need to respect our school. If anything it would save us much more time to change in the morning to have uniform and it would make the school much more proffesional looking.

At the state of the school address, I specifically highlighted this issue and it went unanswered. Basically I argued how the school prioritizes a males' education over females' and this is inappropriate. They're basically hindering our potentital for acquiring knowledge, just because our arms, shoulders, or legs are showing. Well, they should not take it out on us because we're not the ones that make the clothes...

I think we should have a dress code to a CERTAIN extent... boys should be able to control themselves if they see shoulders, or spaghetti straps....maybe and accidental bra strap. And girls IF THEY ARE COVERED THEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE DRESS CODED. If they are wearing yoga pants or leggings WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE!!! They are FULLY COVERED

I believe that some of the dress code is reasonable but some of it is completely ridiculous. Dress code is mostly towards girls and I find that really demeaning because guys aren't treated as equal. I think we need to sit down and find a balance between what really isn't appropriate versus what we shouldn't wear just because it's "distracting" to mean when in reality no one cares anymore.

I don't even go to Granada but I have friends who go there and the school's dress code is just awful. Girls are not trying to be a "distraction", we go to school to learn. And the supervisors are the ones who think it's okay to pull people out class and skip class discussions just for a pair of shorts. Granada's dress code is pointless and stupid.

More equal rules and a less strict dress code should be enforced. Why does it come as a shock to the school that a girl is actually wearing a bra? That's the most ridiculous rule I've ever seen!
