The school board finally buckled and moved graduation to a bigger venue where every family member can actually attend. They tried to hide behind tradition for long enough but our pressure forced their hand. We won this fight and now every senior gets to celebrate properly.

Final supporters
High school graduation is a milestone that should be profoundly honored. Seniors at Thurston High School have worked hard to obtain this goal and they would like for their families to experience this achievement with them. We students , along with faculty and parents, are pressing to make a change so that graduation can be held at a bigger location. Thurston is one of the few schools left to have their graduation in a courtyard where students are subjected to only invite 5 guests. Although this is tradition, times are changing and we do not want students limited to the number of family members they would like to celebrate this event with.

The school board is finally starting to sweat because they cannot ignore this wave of outrage anymore. We are forcing them to look at the reality of how these outdated traditions hurt our families. Keep the pressure on them until they drop these ridiculous guest limits.

I would like to be part if the request to change location. Tradition is important but when it no longer fits time to change. It is also very meaningful to the kids to have family and friends at graduation!
Remember, it's all about the students. Listen to them they're the ones that is graduating
Graduation is a milestone. The courtyard limitations do not allow my immediate family to participate in this wonderful event. The courtyard graduation is the main reason I do not have my remaining children in the school district. I want them someplace where the whole family can enjoy graduation!
As a alum from Thurston Graduation sucks because it's so limited. The courtyard is not equipped to hold that many people and a new location is definitely needed.
I feel expanding in the location for the graduating class of 2016 may inspire your other students and show the growing love and support of the community you educate these young growing students to come.
I was a former high schooler at Lee M. Thruston and it would be nice to have a change from if that's a tradition.
I believe it will be a really good thing to do. People will have more space and it seems like a lot of people want this.

I think this is a great idea for the children to have a bigger venue so that the children wouldn't have to limit their families to enjoy their special moment.
