This is absolutely ridiculous! My cousin Mallory Macon is in the '16 graduating class and has busted her butt to get the best grades possible and she should be recognized for it! Graduation order should stay as it always has been in the past and should stay this way for years to come to recognize students for their achievements and hard work. The process is tradition and it should remain as such.

I graduated with Meredith so I didn't face this issue, but I didn't bust my ass to graduate with a 4.0 GPA for someone who barely got by to get their name called before. Give them kids what they deserve. Since Byrd wants to be so childish send him back to middle school.

Give those that worked hard their recognition. Those that have given the extra mile deserve to be recognized than those that gave the bare minimum to graduate. I'm appalled with what Cleveland has become ever since I graduated 2 years ago.

I agree 100% to this. I worked so hard and my last name starts with a 'Y' and I didn't want to be called last at graduation. I was so excited for this day because I wasn't going to be at the end of the list. But now im back to square one

Being that I graduated in the top percentage of my class last year at this school, I find this ridiculous for those who have worked hard throughout high school. They deserve to be recognized like the rest of us were. What is the point of putting everyone on the same level when clearly some work harder than others? Graduation is a time to recognize those for their achievements and changing this system downplays hard-working students.

U need to recognize the high honors and honors. These guy worked very hard to get the honor of being an honor student. It's not just about the school this is about our hard working students.

I agree graduation is a special time and all graduates deserve to be recognized. I would appreciate more specifics regarding this decision. I Am sure the High Honors and Honors Graduates will still be recognized and that Mr. Byrd has a plan in place to make sure that happens. CvHS was not alone in recognizing those students that excelled in their high school career. In fact, many Johnston County Schools recognize graduates by rank (High Honors and Honors) and then alphabetically. Each student deserves to hear their name called. Families and friends need to respect that and keep whooping and hollering out of the ceremony. There will be time for that later. This is a once in a lifetime event. Cleveland, you cannot go back and redo this, so please get it right.

Why not honor those who work harder than most and deserve this honor? A diploma is not a T-Ball trophy. I guess the new administration hasn't figured out that their liberal views aren't good for the community. What you are doing is wrong. These kids worked hard for that honor and you are making it unimportant to bring some kind of balance perhaps? Make everyone equal?
