Proud Parent of previous Honored Student of top 5%!!! .of CVHS. He was the proudest young man to be finally recognized while standing before the student body of his achievements.
When the school couldnt even list his name or the other 100 members of NHS on the school web.
IF HE OR SHES LAST NAME was "ZHANG" and was first in his Class why is he called last?

My only complaint is that my son doesn't know the kids from his advisory class. He knows the other honors kids. It would be nice to celebrate this milestone, the biggest day of these kids' lives so far, by allowing them to sit with the kids they know. I'll also be sending a letter to the superintendent and encourage other parents and students to speak up as well.

I've watched how hard my daughter has worked the past four years. She, and others like her, deserve to be recognized. It seems that these hardworking students rarely get the accolades they deserve. Please reconsider your decision. Taking something like this away just a few weeks before graduation is very disheartening.

Mr. Byrd is apparently another one of those that think everyone should be treated equally. People, students included, should only be treated equal when they perform or act equally. I myself think that "Politically Correct" are two ridiculous words. Mr. Byrd, you will be depriving these young adults of something they have earned and it will affect their prospective on life for the rest of their lives! We don't need a change!

This is a disgrace! My son works very, very hard to earn his "high honors" and when he graduates in 2018, I want him to be called early!! He will have earned it!!

Students that work hard throughout high school should be rewarded for the various sacrifices and hardships that they have endured in order to attain a certain level of academic achievement that is superior to the standards dictated by the North Carolina High School curriculum. The least that can be done for such sedulous students is to recognize them at one final reception known as graduation. Mr. Byrd I know you are a kind and reasonable man who cares for the staff, students and the reputation of the school. As a student of Cleveland High School I feel that this can all be cleared up with a discussion and reasoning behind such an avant garde decision.

As a parent of two graduates from this school. I am beyond disappointed that Mr.Byrd would do this, these graduates have worked for years for these honors that help them further their education and their lives.. How dare you!!!!! Deny these students the right to show their pride in their hard work and accomplishments .. Shame on you Mr Byrd.. So maybe someone needs to ask Mr Byrd if when he graduated high school and college what honors he received .. How would he feel if he was t recognized for his hard work.

We will recognize our children for athletic achievements, but yet we are going to take away recognition for academic achievements. How does this make sense? Please don't take away something that has been a tradition at CVHS and that these students with academic honors have worked and sacrificed so hard to be recognized for.
