What is really sad is these kids work so hard to be successful in school and let me say I have had a run in with you Mr Byrd. My daughter apparently had a petition being sent around middle school because she was fighting for her right to be taught and actually learn because like I told you then she wants to be successful in life !!
So here we are and she can't get in trouble as I sign this petition for her for the day she graduates so she can be recognized for her honors that she has worked and is continuing to work for !!
This is absolutely absurd and this is horrible !! What are you giving these kids to look forward to on graduation day ??

It has been my dream to see my granddaughter graduate. Now my dream is coming true. I can't believe that you are going to deny her and all of the others that are graduating with honors that recognition. She has worked so hard as I am sure the others have also to be denied this recognition. Shame on you!!! Please reconsider. Seems to me you are sending a message to the 2017 graduating class, with that being why go above and beyond if no one cares enough to see that we get the recognition we deserve. I am having to come from out of town to see my granddaughter graduate. I don't know you Mr. Byrd, but I must say I am very disappointed in you.

let the people who worked harder than others get the recognition for it. people like me & others who don't care about school shouldn't take it away from the people who worked hard throughout their highschool career.

Ms. Reynolds, I agree with you in theory. However, the problem at a large school such as Cleveland means that kids will graduate seated with their advisory class mates, not with the people they have known the last 4 years. My sons peers are in honors classes. His classmates are those students who studied together and encouraged each other to push through to the end. He wants to celebrate his graduation among his friends, who happen to be honors students, not among strangers he only passes in the hall on occasion and sees for report card day.

I have a child with special needs who walked alphabetically and one who was recognized with high honors. She worked and choose her classes in part for that distinction. Hard work deserves recognition, period.

This is so disappointing. The students that worked extra hard for their high GPA's should be acknowledged and rewarded as well. Please don't take that honor away from them.
