I graduated with honors and had no idea until the night if graduation when my role model laid the cord around my neck. I struggled my senior year but worked hard to bring my grades up-it was at that momenti knew it was worth it. I've never been more proud of myself. Graduating is a huge success and yes everyone deserves honor, but those that put in the extra effort...all that they had...well that should be returned to them and a little extra should be given to them in their special night. Congratulations class of 2016!

Also they don't need to be recocognize, just graduate and get it over with. Become successful, that's your recognition

I do not believe that my signature is significant, & even though I work hard I am not as good as some others. However, I am convinced that students should be recognized by their achievements & not the first letter of their family name. I respect Mr. Byrd & love Cleveland High School, but as an American citizen I have the right to oppose this untactful move. To me, this is not about showing off (which I like to do because I am not the humblest of persons), but protecting the interests of both the majority & the well-to-do. There is no need to change what has worked out so well before.

I'm not a senior but this is kind of wrong , those who have worked hard deserve to be recognized for it !!! Come on Byrd first the bathrooms , now this ?!

i swear to GOD if i go from graduating in the top 10 to graduating nearly 400th i will have some CHOICE WORDS for mr. byrd. no offense

This is completely wrong, students should be recognized for their hardwork and dedication for school, for being above average. The honors and high honors students work hard and deserve the extra credibility.

I'm sure there's more going into the decision than I'm aware of, but I would like it if my kids are outstanding students in high school for them to get special recognition at a ceremony that honors academic achievements. Graduation is the perfect time to put a spotlight on kids who have gone above and beyond academically. It is also motivating to younger kids when they look up to those kids that earn accolades; they know what they have to do if they want to stand in that spotlight at their graduations in the future. My kids are zoned for Cleveland High, so this could affect them many years down the road.

We encourage our students to work hard. We tell them that this will make a difference in their lives. In college, we have dean's list, summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude to acknowledge and honor a students excellence and hard work. I don't feel allowing them to be acknowledge for their hard work in high school is wrong. By creating the environment that hard work and achievement garners no honors or acknowledgement is a poor way to handle things. It also separates them from their peers who also worked hard, and essentially tells them, that "everyone gets a trophy". Stop this madness, it is a disservice to everyone.

I will be so disappointed with Cleveland High School if at graduation students who achieved high honors and honors are not recognized, like they have been every other year. These students have worked hard for for years and deserve the recognition.
