He also failed to recognize the band after we won WORLD CHAMPIONS. We didn't even get a congratulations from him when we passed him in the halls.

What is your goal? To force these students that go above and beyond an average status on a daily basis to dumb themselves down and only contribute enough to "get by" on an average level? Or is it to not hurt somebody's feelings or offend or upset the other students who are average or less? This is just as pathetic as a Participation Trophy.

The principal made the change back in August, but didn't make it public until this week -- when it's almost too late to do anything about it. I emailed the superintendent who basically brushed it off and said it's the principal's decision to do what he wants. Sadly, the kids are not important enough to be included in this decision or to be informed with enough time to ask for discussion about it. They/we were definitely blindsided on this one.

So now we don't reward those who work hard and deserve recognition, but instead recognize and reward those you don't do anything. Guess there won't be a valedictorian or salutorian this year either.After all we must have "equality". And we definitely want to teach our youth that you don't have to work for anything because it will be taken from you so as not to 'offend' those who do nothing. Another bad decision on this principals part. Shame on you. Be man enough to stand up and do what is right!

There are no winners and no losers, and everyone gets a trophy. This is ridiculous. These kids have worked their butts off for the last four years and their academic accomplishments deserve to be recognized. This politically correct nonsense has got to stop.

My niece Kelly McMahon has worked diligently throughout her high school education to achieve highest honors while participating as a cheerleader to raise moral and express loyalty to her school. She also believed that at her graduation she would be acknowledged for those efforts as has been done in the past at your graduation ceremonies. It is incredibly unfair to change this policy in the 11th hour and devastating to special students like Kelly. If you wish to alter such policy moving forward, then I suggest you make it known at the beginning of a student's academic career. In any case, given the sad state of education and students' grades across America, why wouldn't you want to encourage and reward those who are keeping your numbers up and working so very hard. This is a disruptive and discouraging policy and will only reflect poorly on your institution. Please do not instate this and ruin my niece's proud day and greatly earned status. Mr. Bryd- should you read this, which I hope you as well as the school board do- it baffles me how you EVER were promoted to principal of CvHS. The rules you have tried to implement this year are for grade school sir- NOT high school. Your lack of participation or rather should I say, your complete absence from EVERY single sporting event except the occasional football game- and this includes ALL athletic banquets is not only inexcusable- it's an outright disgrace. I wrote you once before regarding the lack of support for our wrestling team this year when we made history of going to the first round of states- a letter which you blatantly ignored. Now you want to stop encouraging students from wanting to achieve high honors by taking away the recognition that they have EARNED and should receive at graduation. As the parent of a senior who has earned high honors, I’m not just angry about your decision- I am devastated. This decision is a gross misjudgment on your part- and one that I sincerely hope you will rectify immediately.
