Recognize achievements ! Other kids want awards , they must be earned. Just showing up is not trophy worthy.

These students should be recognized for their years of effort. The district and the school take a lot of credit for the academic success of these students. The students should be able to take credit for their own hard work.

student athletes already DO get recognition; at every pep rally, student athletes are paraded before the ENTIRE school. they absolutely do deserve the honor and recognition for their tireless effort into their sport; however, graduation is the one time that academics ever get any kind of recognition. this new alphabetical system will be getting rid of the chance for academic achievement to ever be recognized before our peers.

How about we teach our kids that hard work pays off? Students have been working so hard for years and this is the ONE TIME that they can be recognized in front of their families, their teachers, and their friends.

in college nobody is recognized for gpa inflating classes. in college when you graduate it’s alphabetical. you’re daughter should not have been motivated to work hard for a 100 minute occasion where everyone gets the same diploma and should be recognized solely for high school graduation. she should have been motivated to work hard to set herself up for a good future. your “recognition” is getting into a good college and getting a good career. and what is ironic is that rumors are around that your daughter cheated on her college applications to get into the prestigious public schools that she got into. the white privilege in naples is what is ridiculous. some people work way harder than the cheaters and people who take easy classes to get their gpa up, even though they have just “participated” in high school. some people don’t come into this school being able to speak english or physically and mentally be born with certain capabilities that those who are privileged have. and there is no reason to be up until 2am for high school work unless you’re taking more than seven glasses to gpa inflate…

I strongly believe that academic excellence should be recognized and rewarded. The approach of "everyone's special so therefore no one is special" is not a good way to encourage excellence in education.

Graduation is the last time students get to sit with their peers..it is a time to celebrate with your peers..this new approach would mean students are not sitting with their peers and that hurts everyone

Academics should be held in the highest regard. Education and the wisdom to use it wisely should be ahead of achievements that only recognize talent and popularity.

I will support all the kids at GCHS who work hard, but what about the kids who worked hard at academics AS well as athletics, etc? Many of those talented students do much more in addition to just academics.

Please recognize students who have worked hard for their grades. It will also mean a lot to the parents who have pushed their kids to excel. Thank you.
