In my school district, we can earn cords (a rope that is worn during the graduation ceremony) by being greatly involved in particular organizations and receiving honors, but they are not allowing all cords to be worn. At the moment, the only ones that can be worn are for academic organizations such as Spanish Honor Society and National Honor Society. Students who reach great achievements in programs like the arts or Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps are not allowed to wear their graduation cords because they are not considered academic. Our goal is to make it that any student in our school district can wear there cords if they are earned.

High school is full of many different achievements, why not have everyone be able to show what they did!

it makes no sense to leave out the art kids. they work just as hard as the honor society people and should get to show it off on stage too
