We are young adults, celebrating one of the most important accomplishments we will ever experience. We are young adults, treated like children. We are young adults, being told that we can't decorate our caps that WE paid for. It's time to change the rules. Who cares if it's a "ceremony", WE'RE GRADUATING! We should be allowed to express ourselves appropriately. This petition is directed toward but not limited to Merrimack Valley High School in Penacook, New Hampshire.

As a parent of a graduate, this is their day, let them have it.... You could even pre-approve all of them, but you shouldn't take that right away...
CHS let us decorate our caps, why can't MV? Isn't graduating about showing who you have become in 4 years, where you plan to be in the future and accomplishing something great & becoming an adult?
I would love to self express myself and how I represent myself as a part of the school. It is my belief that we have earned our freedom to make the right decisions considering we're about to decide everything for the rest of our lives
I understand that it would take time and effort to check the hats, but the students should be able to express themselves (appropriately) and celebrate their accomplishments.
Graduation should be a celebration of the past 12 years and that celebration should not be limited by not being able to graduate our caps. Especially for those who want to honor a loved one. Our graduation caps should be a representation of our lives the past years not a blank slate. It is a CELEBRATION contrary to the RUDE comment made to my class.

Creativity and identity are PART of the transition from one life phase into the next. To disallow this expression is to act against the entire purpose of education.
