THE IDEA FOR THIS PETITION IS TO GRAB THE ATTENTION OF A LAWMAKER TO LET THEM KNOW HOW MUCH THE PUBLIC NEEDS "GRACIES LAW". AS MANY OF YOU MAY KNOW MY 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS KILLED IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY. A MAN STRUCK THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE ALL 4 OF MY CHILDREN WERERIDING IN. AFTER HITTING THE VEHICLE AT OVER 64MPH IT SPUN THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES LEAVING MY DAUGHTER FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE. SHE WAS TAKEN OFF THE VENTILATORS AND PRONOUNCED DEAD SHORTLY AFTER THE COLLISION. THE DEVESTATION TO MY FAMILY IS BEYOND COMPREHENSION. WHAT IS MORE DISTURBING TO ME IS THAT THE MAN THAT CAUSED THIS HORRIFIC CRASH WAS UNPUNISHED. NOT A FINE, TICKET, NOR EVEN A DRIVING SUSPENSION WAS GIVEN TO HIM. HE WALKED AWAY AFTER KILLING A CHILD WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A SLAP ON THE WRIST. HOW IS IT IN KENTUCKY THAT YOU CAN CAUSE THE DEATH OF A CHILD AND GO UNPUNISHED? THAT IS WHY I AM URGING EVERYONE TO HELP ME WITH THIS PETITION. TO SHOW THE LAWMAKERS HOW MUCH WE NEED THIS GAP IN KENTUCKY FILLED. YOU JUST CANNOT GO ON OUR KENTUCKY ROADWAYS AND KILL SOMEONE AND NOT HAVE CONSEQUENCES FOR YOUR ACTIONS. I spent the entire afternoon reading through your comments and each story reminds me why this fight is necessary for Gracie. We are currently preparing a formal packet to present to the local representatives because they need to see that this level of injustice is unacceptable in our state.
