The GPUD does noting but benefit from their license to operate a dam on Columbia River. They inturn are required to create an environment that benefits those who what enjoy accessing that same waterway. That is simply not happening, they are making more difficult,. The people that have invested there time, money and future in Sunland are being ignored. FERC we need an intervention.

Hopefully FERC will do more than just ask GPUD what this petition is about, get proactive and have a FERC represenTative with common sense get involved. GPUD insists they are just meeting FERC requirements? After reading all of these comments surely FERC can see that there is more going on here than that!

GCPUD is totally out of touch with the Sunlands community and seem to be actively trying to destroy the enjoyment of the numerous families who reside in and visit this gorgeous area. They're a disgrace.

GPUD's plans and actions related to the "recreational" shoreline cannot be supported or condoned. By their own actions, GPUD has broken their own approved Final Shoreline Management Plan - which states "destruction...or removal of any vegetation...is prohibited". This is EXACTLY what they did to the shoreline along Sunland cove by removing safe access routes/stairs and bulkheads there recently. Furthermore, in their SMP they arbitrarily gave themselves the right to "terminate" any longstanding improvements in place prior to their 2008 renewal of their FERC license, without legal standing. Seems like without GPUD cooperation or reasonableness, the courts will need to decide this.

GPUD has not presented a transparent process nor have they articulated any meaningful or rationally supported reason for their lack of transparency and process. Sundlands residents had hoped for leadership from GPUD but instead have been met with "business as usual" process and politics. Planning has been poor and meaningful public process & outreach has been missing. GPUD has failed on multiple fronts and demonstrated unwillingness to work cooperatively with the community, Instead they have chosen to hide behind unclear policy and to use scare tactics and intimidation to gain compliance with their plan from community members. They have also failed to share any performance measures that might indicate whether or not their shoreline reclamation projects are successful. Maybe they haven't even developed such measures. How can you know something is successful if you don't identify what success looks like?

I can't understand how the GCPUD can think that removing beautiful green lawns to replace them with dry sage can in any way be moving in a forward direction. It seems this would create a higher risk factor for wild fires in the dry season and in fact seems to be a very "backward" approach to the future of Sunland and it's surrounding land.

I agree. These lands are beautifully maintained and this seems to be a wasteful use of resources. Perhaps a grandfather clause with no further destruction of existing habitat may be a good approach?

I concur with the emails from Sunland owners and residents. The destruction of green areas that have been cared for by the Sunlanders is a waste of resources and effort. Cooperation to resolve the issues is imperative.

The homes that I have visited have respectfully maintained areas that remain natural and respectful of the area. Tearing out grass to replace it with scrub is not only wasteful, but will create a fire hazard in an area that gets very dry during a majority of the year. It's a shame the GPUD has to lie to force its agenda rather than working with folks, many of whom are long time homeowners.

I am disgusted with the GPUD and all of the misleading rhetoric they keep trying to feed our Sunland property owners. At the same time they are bad neighbors and refuse to respect our CCR's. Shame on you GPUD!

I do not approve of the GCPUD shoreline plan for the Sunland area. While some meetings have been held with the community, there does not appear to be any partnership. GCPUD has moved ahead with their plan without any taking in any real input from the community. They have gone through the motions with very little substance. We still do not have a viable option for accessing the water in the cove area without navigating a steep, loose slope or walking across our neighbors yards to access a few stairways. I'm not sure what the tax payers have gained from this effort.

I and my family are not happy withe the GPUD are treating the area around Sunland Estates. The impression that I am getting from GPUD is that they are going to do what they want no matter what anyone else thinks.
