Grant County PUD made promises to Sunland homeowners that they would be allowed to keep and maintain their current green space (lawns) if we would file permits. The permits were filed and then Sunland homeowners were told that we could not maintain (water) these same green spaces. Based upon statements to me by Grant County PUD employees I redid my green space. This very same green space and retaining wall that was previously permitted by Grant County PUD. Now, Grant County PUD is requiring me to take down the retaining wall and remove my sprinkler system which would cause the green space (grass) to die. This is a mere 25 foot of firebreak. Grant County PUD has made misleading statements to me, the other homeowners in Sunland Estates, and to FERC. They are causing the destruction of a large recreation area that has been privately maintained at no cost the them.. Grant County PUD is not being honest with FERC or Sunland Estates homeowners.

Why should Sunland residents provide more. We did contribute to all of the improvements so far. Where does it stop!

We purchased our cabin in Sunland for recreation on the water with the convenience of using the shoreline for access. It did not even occur to us that the shoreline would be used for any other purpose. Taking away access, creating additional fire hazards, making the shoreline less desirable to use, and taking away existing shared buoys seems like a take away from the homeowners with no one that benefits. I wonder why the PUD has the resources to pursue these actions and why our taxes don't provide some leverage.

I believe the Sunlands community has shown that they can and do work hard to maintain and preserve the lands in and around the community while also utilizing it for the great recreational opportunities that exist. seeing some of the wasted government resources at work on my last visit made me wonder what their goal really was, preservation of the natural areas or to simply add costs and waste to the way in which the area would be managed and developed.

The Sunlands community has shown their ability to maintain the right balance between preservation and recreational use of the Sunlands area. Given the greater priorities of the GPUD, it is unclear to me why there is a push to change something that is working well. Work with the community to develop a plan that serves the community and the management requirements of the GPUD.

GPUD appears to be taking their agressions out on Sunland residents for the outcome at Crescent Bar. Hopefully FERC will take a comon sense look at their behavior and realize that the actions of PUD personel is not in the best interest of all parties involved. Their actions are blatantly wasteful and counterproductive.

The GPUD is using extra ordinary measures to plant native plants in alien habitat which eventually die because of lack of appropriate nutrients in the soil. A very big waste of tax payers money if you do not realize the best and most efficient use of the land was its current state before the GPUD trucked gallons of water and plants for failed experiments. Sunlands is a peaceful community and a great use of a sand spit on the columbia. The Sunland community has been great stewards of their property.

GPUD has been behaving as if they are a dictatorship when in fact the work for the tax payers of Grant County. Hopefully FERC lend some needed perspective to this situation.
