ALCOHOL TO BLOOD CONTENT TESTERS SHOULD BE READILY AVAILABLE.

Over the Christmas / New Year period there is a significant increase in advertising to stop people drink driving.  I wholeheartedly agree with this and agree people should not take a risk when it comes to drink driving.

I would never want to drink drive.

However, I do not believe there are necessary tools / resources to allow people to know if they are drink driving.

Many people that get done for drink driving are caught the next morning –because they didn’t know they were drink driving.  Alcohol to Blood content testers should be readily available.  This would at least give people the opportunity to find out if they are going to be drink driving or not.

Whether it is allowing the public to enter a police station to take a voluntary test (currently not available), or monitored / regularly calibrated machines in hotels / petrol stations where you can pay £1 for a test, etc.

Laws are there for a reason, and many laws are black and white.  Eg. Don’t go above a certain speed – that’s why there is a speedometer.

However this law is difficult for the public to ensure they are upholding due to lack of resources to find out if they are going to be breaking the law or not.

I ask the Government to detail how I go about finding how if I am over the limit, so I am not in risk of drink driving.

Allow me to keep the law.  Allow me to ensure I am and not drink driving.  Provide me with a method of taking the breathalyser test by choice.

Nb.  This petition is not designed to allow people to have a pint or two and then try and drive the same evening.  This is designed for those that have a few drinks the night before and want to drive the day after.

Nb.  Whilst there are many breathalyser products available to buy on the market, none are guaranteed.

Seriously. Half the time people have no idea they are over the limit the next morning. If they sold these at gas stations it would save so many people from losing their licenses. Simple solution!
