We purchased our retirement home this past summer. We wanted peace, quiet, nature and beauty. By going forward with this proposal, it spoils what drove us here in the first place!

The Utley family picked the lovely town of Scottsboro for retirement and moved into a neighborhood that was established 15+ years ago as R1 (except for a small R5 portion) single family housing. The neighborhood(s) were established under these guidelines and folks have made major life decisions around the current zoning of R1. I am very supportive of the development of our neighborhood as R1 and the town of Scottsboro but a change to R2 is not in good faith to the intent of the original plan...by the same developer who is now requesting a change to facilitate a sale to his financial benefit. This could end of with a black mark on our beautiful town such as the Dynetics misstep of years past. Please hold true to the original plan, the one that many families have invested their future in.

Please add your lot # and subdivision name to the comments. Also, did you mean to say “will NOT be re-elected” in your comment?

Changing zoning to P-2 will lower property values. The higher density and traffic on narrow roads will be a major safety issue specially for emergency vehicles trying to get through. Lot 70 Promenade.

We oppose the re-zoning of Goosepond. The area is too small to have that much stuff. We bought here in April and if this passes we will sell this April. We moved her foe the peace and quiet! Not traffic jams on the water and in the neighborhood!
