Our home is currently under construction at 133 Goosepond Island Drive and the entrance to the proposed retail/commercial portion would be directly across from our home. We are extremely opposed to the re-zoning and would not have purchased our lots had we known this was going to happen. We are not opposed to growth/development and think Scottsboro could definitely benefit from new developments; however, our area is not the place for what they are proposing. Why have the entrance to retail/commercial *inside* our area? Why not have that on the main Goosepond Drive? Why do they need to move North Shore Drive? That will not solve the traffic problems that will occur. Furthermore, “estate” and “manor” lots are typically a couple of acres or more. Definitely NOT the size lots they are proposing as such. It just seems that there would be other options that could be proposed that would not lower our property values or drastically change the area that drew us all here in the first place. #VoteNo

We just purchased this summer our retirement home in the Promenade/Oaks (lot #244) gated community. We were attracted to this beautiful quiet area of Scottsboro because of all the low traffic, wildlife, and all wonderful single family homes in this area. Please leave the R-1 low density zoning in place and expand only with single family homes similar to what is already here. With a community and county as large as it is there must be available land elsewhere more fitting to P-2 zoning! Commissioners please stand up tall and have some fight against these out of state developers that will come and go and leave a mess behind for all of us!
