We the parents & community members of Sarah E Goode STEM Academy, 7651 South Homan Ave, Chicago, IL., are asking the Chicago Board of Education for the right to form a Local School Council (LSC) effective immediately. The parents have serious concerns regarding the governance, organizational & financial oversight of Sarah E Goode STEM Academy. As of June, 2014, Sarah E Goode STEM Academy completed its 2nd year. Per the Chicago Board of Education & the Office of Local School Council Relations guidelines, we are entitled to LSC representation.

I am currently organizing the documentation required to challenge the current governance structure with the Office of Local School Council Relations. We are preparing a formal brief that outlines specific lapses in oversight to present during our next meeting with district officials.

I refuse to stand by and watch as my peers' educational careers are bombarded with worthless classes, disorganization, overly ambitious disciplinarians that only worsen morale, and negligence of the voice of the alumni. We are a part of the school that is indispensable. Our futures are in the hands of negligence and halfheartedness? No. There must be accountability. This is a time our voices must be heard.
I once went to SEG , but the orginization , the lack of responsibility , etc was horrible. I went to highschool for a reason, but how am I going to enjoy high school when we arent treated like ones. I support this all the way, because i would have loved finishing my high school years at seg but I couldnt handle seg no more. I do not just speak for my self but for others as well.
As a community member and the Future,I am deeply concerned for the incoming class mane. We need to develop a LSC now, As a innovator we must take the time to develope this LSC so budgets are distributed EQUALLY! There is no bad that can come from it. This is us embracing civic responsibility.. Stop braking the law and do things properly like innovaters should.
We need this as a school and as a community. It's not right that parents at getting a say so in change so we bring this things up during PAC meetings because we don't have a lsc
LSC is needed our children deserve fairness and for their voice to be heard. Changes need to happen.

I completely agree with all my fellow students. This school has the potential to be the best school in Chicago, yet all they are concerned with is the discipline. Demerits for being late to lunch? Really? I feel as if the demerit system is way out of line. As young adults I feel as if they aren't letting us live up to our potential because everywhere we turn its a demerit being pushing our way, because of little things that aren't even close to a problem. Silent until the bell rings for lunch? You can only get up to throw away your tray when your table is called? This is high school, not grammar school.
