Golden Road Biergarden: Not a Good Plan

No way. Local business needs to be the priority. Plus, there's no infrastructure to support that kind of business on that corner.

I used to live just down the street on Ridgeway. I love seeing the local businesses growing into that neighborhood and enjoy visiting to bring my business. AB does not make any sense, for all of the reasons stated on the petition. Strongly opposed!

I am an island resident who frequently visited friends in this neighborhood. The large proposed business will make it a nightmare to find parking on city streets, which will make it harder for me to do business with existing businesses. I would also prefer to see a locally-owned business in this space.

The neighborhood is already in a delicate balance. There are currently several small, locally owned beer gardens and restaurants that are pillars of community engagement. InBev tips the scale in the other direction towards corporate interest. I don't trust them to good citizens and they might threaten the livelihood of these other businesses.

I work for Thunder Road recovery center for Teens with substance abuse issues. which is very close to the proposed site. The site is not a good idea close to center. My daughters also attend Park Day school close to the site and the area is already densely populated which affects park Day school as well as the four surrounding schools close to the purposed site. The site would be better suited in the underdeveloped areas of Oakland

It is inappropriate to put this proposed beer garden within 1000 feet of a teen drug treatment program that provides both residential and ambulatory treatment for teenagers. This would also be in close proximity to Oakland Technical Highschool. Please respect the long standing existing services in this area and require the agency to move some place else.

This sort of industrial plant does not belong here. Opposed because of smell, noise, traffic in an already congested area due to Kaiser hospital

This is a quiet clean residential neighborhood and is calm and does not have a transient club nightlife atmospher like this beer garden would promote. I am against it!!!

Too much traffic in an already congested residential leaning neighborhood. A business, not locally owned, will be at a disadvantage.

Our neighborhood is full of locally owned businesses, including a beer garden. We do not need a corporate mega beer garden and definitely don't need a beer manufacturer.

I'm am forcibly against a corporate beer garden going into our neighborhood. Over the years, small and independent businesses have popped up on 40th that have responded to the needs of the community. This proposed beer garden goes against the needs and values of the community. Noise, traffic and parking would be pushed to untenable levels as well. It's fair to say that no one in this neighborhood would welcome this new entity.

there are already numerous beer gardens within several blocks, and these existing beer gardens are smaller and better situated in more commercial areas. this garden will be a nuisance and there is no need to bring a huge corporate alcohol facility to a residential neighborhood that is already saturated with beer gardens, breweries, and bars.

Thunder Road Adolescent Treatment Facility is located at 390 40th St, where I am employed. It would present a conflict of interest and disturbing message to the youth and their families, as well as exacerbate the dysfunction and chaos caused. The accessibility and advertisement will trigger and facilitate opportunity for misuse and abuse of alcohol and other intoxicants for this community, which is flooded with alcohol and other drugs, illegal activity, break ins, and other crimes. I lived at 3917 Shafter Avenue from 2009-2013. My home was broken into as well as numerous occasions of intoxicant fueled altercations, empty bottles littering the area and the occasional dump of dangerous paraphernalia left on the street. The neighborhood does not have appropriate accessibility for the amount of cars and customers, nor do they need more drunk and disorderly conduct within this family community. Please find an area to corrupt for profit elsewhere

I enjoy a great beer from sours to stours. That said, surely there are better places in Oakland to put up manufacturing? Doing so in a residential area that would be better served with more housing does not make any sense to me. Furthermore, putting up a tap room with a capacity of 175 does not make a "tap room". That's a large operation which is surely going impact parking and traffic in the area.

The impact of this to an already very busy neighborhood will be too much. It has already become difficult for residents to park. Also....a huge corporation like this trying to pull off a small brewery feel is ridiculous. Our neighborhood does not want or need this farce. (Or this truly disgusting beer)

I live two doors down from this proposed development. I do not see how a 6 foot fence in back and a 3 foot fence in front will prevent sound from entering our homes. Further, an additional 45 to 100 cars in the neighborhood at peak hours will create real traffic and parking problems in the area, where parking is already highly competitive and accidents happen regularly at the two adjacent intersections. This plan seems ill conceived and disregards the setting and the surrounding residents and businesses. It needs to be reviewed with the city and with residents in a public hearing or hearings to address our many concerns.

I oppose this project for several reasons: 1. More than enough food and drink venues already exist in the neighborhood 2. Yet another brew pub or drink venue will not add anything of value to the neighborhood; on the contrary, it is likely to be detrimental (loud and smelly facility; rowdy, obnoxious customers) 3. This location is too close to housing for a noisy beer business 4. It is likely to attract people outside the neighborhood, which has inadequate parking for a high-volume business here 5. I don't expect a large corporation outside the neighborhood to be sensitive to the needs of its neighbors
