Golden Road Biergarden: Not a Good Plan

Anheuser Busch has a history of employment and labor violations. The brewery wouldn't be locally owned and wouldn't answer to local residents because AB InBev could afford to bankroll the operation even if people don't like it or it clashes with local residents. It doesn't fit with the character of Temescal or Oakland's focus on authentic, locally owned businesses.

This is just such an obviously bad idea on the face of it. Misrepresentation of business, cheap and ugly design which will degrade other buildings and housing stock - please tell me the Planning staff and Commission aren't going to rubber stamp yet another monstrosity in our neighborhood.

This biergarden is unnecessary. This neighborhood already has one. Go somewhere else Busch!

We don't want a large global company canabalizing local businesses that are the heart and culture of our neighborhood.

Kudos for starting the petition. Oakland doesn't need any more venues for getting intoxicated - and if we're going to allow them, they need to be good neighbors. Parking waivers are a bad idea. If this is going to move forward, have the big corporate pockets build a new underground parking structure in conjunction with the business. Limit the hours of operation.

No no no. Oakland is unique in our local high quality businesses that truly embrace the meaning of craft and small and locally owned. A culture is born out of this. It is t born out of slapping the word craft beer on a sign. No big corporate interests and their large production footprint!

The plan I see is poorly planned and thought through. Please do not allow this plan to proceed.

AB is a trump supporter and a huge business. I'd prefer a local company taking the space.

Stop selling Oakland off to the highest bidder! I'd rather a locally crafted beer garden if it has to be beer. And storage containers are ugly lazy and cheap...Stay within the historical esthetics! But more so- we need residential and commercial development.
