family traditions are important, they link grandparents and grandchildren, they create bonds in a family, important bonds, the boy would fair better in this world with his family name. There should be no question that his name is Spyridon. Have two moke children and name the third on Michael as tradtiion follow, then all the grandparents will feel a part of the family too.

I personally do not care for the name but can't help but agree with the reasoning behind it. It is a family tradition!! Call him Spy Michael - what little boy would not LOVE that??

I don't know how to pronounce Kseniya but, if that was the name of my mother-in-law, and my wife wanted to give this name to our daughter, I not only would respect their wish, but also would learn the correct pronunciation. Good luck to the couple and the child.

He should be named Spyridon. Keep tradition. I didn't want to name my son after my father in law originally for the same reason. I felt it was old an unpopular. But my son could not be prouder of his name and is happy we decided to keep tradition.

I agree - first child named after father's parents, second after mother's.Give the child both names but the first must be Spyridona Late Greek name derived from Greek σπυριδιον (spyridion) meaning "basket" or Latin spiritus meaning "spirit". Saint Spyridon was a 4th-century sheep farmer who became the bishop of Tremithus and suffered during the persecutions of Diocletian.
