Godly Right to Name First-Born Son Spyridon

You have to name the boy Spyridon and call them Spiros as used in Greece! Like me :)

I named all my children for the reason their father ran out and left. I beleive that if its a girl and you name her after Kseniya's mother then you Nicholas can name the child Spyridon if it's a boy.

I like Spyridon. How about Spyridon Michael?

I love the name and the tradition behind it. I think names with real meaning need to make a come back.

I think he should be able to use a family name. Its not like he is making the name up.

I'm a mom & remember these types of arguments during pregnancy. I have always felt that the mother *should* have top choice in name as she's the one who sacrifices her body for 10+ months. However, in this situation I have to side with the father! It's such a unique, historical name referencing the child's heritage & family...not some random combination of letters or a WAY OVERUSED traditional name. Do you know how many Michaels are in my family or how many I've dated?? TOO MANY! Name this child Spyridon!

Also, being from a Greek backgroud, and Greek Orthodox as well, the first born son should be named after the fathers father. The second born son should be named after the mothers father.

I agree with Dad. Spyridon is a beautiful name and in todays age the "archaic" names are usually the most elegant.

It is Greek tradition that tells us to name our first born sons after the paternal grandfather. If Mrs. Soukeras did not like our Greek traditions, she should have married into another culture. Spyridon was my grandfather's name and it is a strong and beautiful name. May St. Spyridon of Kerkyra help give this couple the wisdom they will need to raise their son!

I have an unusual name and I would not ever change it. Michael is boring.

Name the boy after his grandfather. Call him Ridon.

I have never heard of this name. But this name trumps "michael" a milion times over!!! They could go by Spy or Ridon. "Ridon" actually sounds cool! Go for what is unique and special. Something tells me that this name will really grow on the mother, and she would regret 'Michael' forever.

I agree with Dad. While I love the name Michael, it is widely used and I think Spyridon is very elegant. To me it seems off beat as I live in Midwest america, but that is part of why I like it. Each child is individual and I believe the names we pick for our children sort of mold who they become. A more widely used name to me would make the child more "normal" where as a child who feels they stand out will certainly show different traits. Just a theory. Although, I'm still with dad on this one! Love both names!

I like it. it has a meaning and character. think about it also sound like super heroe which is most of boy's dream.

I love the background of Spyridon. It is strong and unique. Michael is so commonplace and generic.

Do you really want to saddle the kid with a name other kids will make fun of? Use Spyridon as a middle name, like I did with my son. My grandfather's name was Floyd so I named my son Samuel Floyd.
