I think that Spyridon is a wonderful name. I can't pronounce it now but I will soon. May God bless you with a healthy beautiful child. My son is named after my father and my husband did not want to have to "Sam's" in the family but his name has proven to be a blessing for him and us. No matter what you name the baby I am sure that he/she will be loved. By the way We agreed that I could name they baby and my husband was able to choose the Godparents.
I think Mrs. Soukeras' blood brother, if she has one, should name his first born son Michael. That would properly honor her Father.

As someone with an unusual name I enjoy hearing different names, but my solution is to name the baby Michael Spyridon and use Spy as a nickname. He will be asked where it came from and then he can proudly share his greek heritage. ...His mother's name is not that easy to say either.

I may not be able to pronounce the name, but if the father feels that strongly, I think he ought to have the right to name his son. I don't agree with the wife characterizing the name of his future son as archaic. Not nice.

Interesting name that will spark convesation. Micheal is so over-used and boring. Spyridon can also be used for boy or girl - beautiful and fascinating for either.

I think has made multiple concession in all other aspects. Petitioner's wife can always use the middle name as a nickname, if she so chooses!

i go with daddy and tradition spyridon and mom's michael for middle and most likely is the name that will be used the most. If the kid grows up and doesn't like or want to honor tradition then he himself can change it.....i don't really see what the big deal is and this becoming a fight mom....you both get a choice problem solved and son can change if he so desires

I think this is a very unique name! We are always urging our children to stand out and don't follow the crowd, this name will definitely give him a head start! Why not use Michael as a middle name? Compromise is important in raising children. My child is middle eastern on his fathers side, and Hispanic on mine. I wished for an authentic middle eastern first name for him, but father went with more traditional. With it being his first son I thought it was only right to allow him to choose. Best of luck! Hope you hit your goal!!!!

I do not consider it a Godly right, but agree with your sentiment and the fact you will compromise.

I agree with Nicholas. It is a fathers right to name his first born son after his father. It would be an utter disgrace to take this from him and double down and name the child after the wifes father. That would be grounds for divorce.

How about having the first name Spyridon and the middle name, Michael? As an adult, the child can choose what to be called. I had a friend named Anton Joseph. He was Joe for a number of years, but for the past 30 years he is Anton. His choice!
