Spyridon Michael. My vote. S. Michael if he chooses. Spyridon if he chooses.

Though your justification for this seems more than a tad antagonistic toward your wife, I do agree that the option of naming your child a traditional Greek name should not be dismissed out of hand. Please consider if 'winning' on this issue is ultimately best for your child and marriage, however, or if you just want to be 'right.'

Her family will end up calling him Mischa anyway, Spyridon is a good strong name and can be shortened to Spyro or Don. Best wishes for a good delivery.

Spyridon Michael Soukeras has a nice ring. You both win, and when the kid gets older he can choose to go by his first or middle. But I would go with Spyridon as the first because it's unique.

Tradition, Historical Relevance, Deep Paternal Desire, Basic Fairness, Badassness > "Unsuitability" (Which is, in itself, arguable. See badassness.)

Just because his name is Spyridon (admittedly a mouthful), doesn't mean that's what he'll be called on a daily basis. Choose a middle name you love and call him that.

I agree the father should name his son Spyridon. It's not a bad name. If the child really dislikes the name when older, then he can go by his middle name (Michael?) or use a nickname such as "Spy." As a mother. I can attest that people don't make fun of unique names (especially names with meaning and a family connection.) It's the common names like Michael that are a problem, especially in school when there are 3 or 4 kids with the exact same name in class. It's confusing and prevents a child from establishing their own identity.
