BTW, my actual name on my birth certificate is Cynthia, not Xanthoula. That is the Greek name I got at baptism. I wish my real name were Xanthoula. I love to use it when I am in Greece. It is so nice to be called by my Greek name. Hispanics give their children Hispanic names, as do many Muslim ethnic groups. Having a name like Barack did not hold Obama back. Give your son a name to reflect his culture and name your second son Michael or Mixalis.

Good name - but would make Michael the middle name in case the kid wants to us a more traditional name. just my two cents.

I LOVE children that have names traditional to their cultures even if they are considered "weird" by most! He'll thank you later for going with a less-generic name, I PROMISE! Also, why should the wife get to use her parents' names for either gendered child but squash the use of the husband's parents' names?

It's time we moved away from the Michaels, Johns, Marks, and Ryans of the recent past. Bring back some of the old names!!

First of all, it's a pretty awesome first name. Secondly, you just DON'T mess with Greek tradition!!

Spyridon Michael would honor both grandfathers. Since the mom is going to pick a name if the baby is a girl she should let the dad pick the name for a boy.
