It might be better to give his middle name as Michael, that way later in life the child can decide what to be called. I do hope this doesn't create a ripple in their marriage though.

Call me old fashioned, but I think it's fair for dad to name his son after his father and grandfather... a common and meaningful tradition for men. Name him "Spyridon Michael". Then he can be called by either name growing up. Professionally, one day, he could be "S. Michael" if he chooses.

I do think the name is cool, and have no objections to Spyridon. It is a worthy effort to try to continue family traditions. Having said that, marriage is about compromise and why not just make his middle name Spyridon? It continues the tradition, but makes it more modern with a realistic first name. Because let's face it, in 2055 he'll be the last Spyridon on Earth.

Spyridon is better than Apple, North, or any of the other crazy names out there right now. At least Spyridon has some meaning.
