I think 'Spyridon' is an awesome name! However, I'm in agreeance with Charitys' idea of 2 middle names, for I also gave my son 2 middle names. That will give your son 'options' when he is old enough to figure out just who he is in this life.

I've got to side with the father on this one. To the wife, please consider your husbands passion for this name. He has taken the time, (which I'm as parents to be is very precious to you)

I see a compromise here. Why not, assuming it's a boy, name him Spyridon after his paternal grandfather, since he is carrying on the Soukeras name, but call him by a nickname or middle name that you can both agree on (i.e. Spy (cool! And unique! And gets my vote), Michael, or other). I know several sons that do not go by their old-fashioned Father's name, but by their middle or a nickname (i.e. Skip). I personally love the tradition of a family name, that's carried through the family tree, particularly a first born son. Another idea is to make Spyridon his middle name. Good luck! And Congratulations!

His buds will call him Spyder. How cool is that...I'd go with Spyridon. Agree with Brenda...there are 18million Michaels in the world. Call that boy Spyridon.

Spyridon is a fantastic name. I was given an unusual name, and I hated it as a child... and I have loved it ever since. People constantly compliment me on it. And when someone calls for me, I know it's me and not one of 100 others with the same name.

Yes give him that name. you can always shorten it or call him by his middle name. If not then his 1st name should not be either family's in all fairness
