My middle name is Gay. I HATED it all my life because I was made fun off. However, as I am older, I am honored to be named after my Grandmother, Eva Gay. I think honoring your grandfather with your first born said it awesome!

The child should be named after his grandfather, it is a tradition and you do NOT see the husband fighting the wife over the female name, which is being named AFTER her mother. Fair is fair!

Why not compromise and use both grandpa's names. It is an honor to be named after a family memeber!

The first born son is normally named by the father, unless he doesn't care. This is a wonderful and unique name. I, personally, would go along with the father's wishes and name him Spyridon Micheal. It's a good name and honours not just your husband's father, but your's as well.

I think both parents should like a name and if it is something that is unheard of in America maybe it should be a middle name.
