As a mom, I happen to agree with family heritage names being more important. I think the child should be named Spyridon Michael. If, as he ages, he prefers, he can choose to be called by his middle name. And if he chooses to be a writer, he'll have an very cool moniker!

I think the Greek tradition of naming the first son after the husband's father is wonderful. I believe that tradition in families is very important and ties us together in important ways. I was named after my father's sister which satisfied him and my mother always called me June because that seemed right to her. I don't know if they argued about my name, but as I see it, they both won. Anyway, sons are especially important to fathers as they carry on the family name. I hope Kseniya will reconsider and let her husband honor his father.

Spyridon is his heritage. He will probably be the only kid in class with that name. I will make him and individual.

I think it's fantastic! Set him apart! Great, authentic, beautiful name! Definitely a strong name! Every boy needs a strong, but classy name. This is it. Use Michael as a middle! two for one!

Go Daddy! My vote is for Spyridon. Dad's should be able to name their firstborn son. Give him a nickname if pronunciation is a problem.

I'm all for unique historic names but one that means this much to the father should be allowed especially considering he's giving up naming his daughter, a suitable middle name for his son and the naming of a second possible son. give the man something. go Spyridon

I respect the name and the tradition. Why not use both names and go with Spyridon Michael or Michael Spyridon?
