It's one thing to not like a name but it's not unsuitable. Pick a name you can both agree on. But I'm signing this because these names should be preserved. ANd I think it's funny.

Spridon's nickname is Spiros, what is wrong with a Greek name for Greek heritage? Our exchange student years ago was named Spyridon and we thought it pretty cool

Spyridon is an okay name. It is very elegant. If an American nickname is needed, "Don" would be fine.

It is good to give your child a unique name. Why do you want him to have a name that is like every other person? It gives the child individuality along with heritage! I hope you get your way! My husband got his!!!

Why can't you compromise? If it's a boy, name him Spyridon Michael Soukeras after both fathers. When he's older, if he has a problem with Spyridon, he can go by S. Michael Soukeras. It wouldn't be the first time that someone chose to go by their middle name rather than their first name.

Great Greek name. Father has moral right to follow tradition and honor hs father and familly by giving his father's name to his first-born son.

Spyridon is such a fascinating and unique name! You will be glad later on! I had originally chosen a Celtic name for our daughter which was turned down by many family members, and now my poor sweet daughter has one of the most common names in the country! In addition, if it's a boy, I hope you take as much time and consideration in researching the reasons NOT to circumcise him as you do arguing over his name. (; God bless!

It's a pretty unique and badass name. Your son will thank you for it, especially once he sees how important it is to not pay so much attention to what society expects. Why isn't your wife ok with leaving Michael as his middle name? He'll still have her dad's name, it's no big deal. Americans really need to know how to be open minded and learn how to read and pronounce different sounding names. Spyridon is an amazingly unique name and that will only make your son even more special. Why is it bad for you to have the right to name your son? She already won in naming the girl after her mother and from what the petition says she gets to name the second boy. She's already has more rights than you, why can she not let you win just this once? I let my husband name our first son because I know how special it is to a man to name their first born son. It's the same feeling a woman gets when she holds her baby for the first time. I apologize for this, but I think your wife is being pretty selfish.
I also like Spyridon Michael. :-)
