Traditionally the first born son is named after Fathers Father. You could use Spyridon as religious baptized name and use Michael legally name..
That would solve both issues.
I was baptized with my Grandmothers name (Moms Mom), but I was given a different first name legally.

I believe that if Nicholas has agreed to name the baby after Kseniya's Mother if it is a girl, it is only right to name the baby after Nicholas' Father if it is a boy.

My name may not be as unique or cool, but I am the 4th in a row in my family to bear my name and I intend my son to be the 5th! Or you could go Spyridon Michael and let the boy pick which he likes best.

Look at it this way, when you call his name, he'll be the only one running to you. My son's name is Declan. My mother in law gave me a very hard time about it. I told her take a look at our last name, will anyone care what his first name is. Btw, he was the only Declan in his class. No need for a last name! God bless, Spyridon :)

So, let me get this straight. Traditionally, a child takes his first name from his grandfather and his middle name from his father. If the first is named Ken and the second is named Nick, then all first-born sons in that family will be named Ken Nick X, then Nick Ken X, then Ken Nick X, then Nick Ken X, and so on. How does this in any way validate the child's individuality, the generation he is part of, the country he lives in, and which he will grow to love as much as his grandfather loved his own, or his parents' wishes and hopes for him? There's a reason people evolve, and if tradition had anything to do with it, there would be no evolution. Where you draw the line is your business, but if I were the mother, I wouldn't want anything to do with the name Spyridon, either. It's a last name that has run in my family for some generations, but bearing this saint's name is hardly anything to brag about in the 21st century.

Kseniya I have to side with you on this, my son was Michael and he passed away, so sorry Nicholas - but I go with Michael and she is the one carrying you pride and joy - she gets to choose. Spyridon / sorry but with this, he will end up with a nick name in todays world and will never carry the full name thru school. Think about it. But to satisfy the age / go with Michael Spyridon Soukeras - good tough strong name - then he has the love all the family with him as well. But most of all - teach him to grow up with love, kindness and the love of God and to read to him every day. Help him to contribute to society and be an honest man.

I love the names Spyridonas and Michael. I understand the Greek traidition and feel Spyridon a beautiful name. My brother-in-law is a Spyridonas (they call him Spiro). He has 4 cousins named Spiros who are all very successful business men and the non-traditional name is great to have for an executive. It's also wonderful to have a unique and great name which has deep meaning. Having said that, I feel that the husband and wife should agree on the name and not just follow tradition as you both need to be happy. If Kseniay is willing to go with Spiros if people agree, then that is wonderful as she hearfully must be ok with it. Best of luck with your baby and many blessings of good health and happiness regardless of his name :)
