ABSOLUTELY name him after his ancestors!! You can name all your other children Flynn, Derk, Ryder, and Justin (names that have no real meaning what-so-ever). And yes,... that's sarcasm.

I think the family name is appropriate. Call him whatever you want. I know a couple that named their son after the grandfather, and always called him Scooter. He's 37, and I just found out that Scooter is not his real name. Plus, does the wife not know that she married a Greek, and the males are pretty strong.

The boy will not always live in a Greek neighborhood where folks are familiar with the name. His teachers will always mispronounce his name, which will frustrate him (my own son went through this with a much simpler name). Compromise: name him Spyridon MIchael and let him later choose which he prefers to use. My father ended up going by his middle name and using the initial of his first name: F. Richard.
