im not that religious but I must commend people that stick to there beliefs. I don't like the name Spyridon but you can always call him by his nickname and as the he ( if it's a he) teach him about his true name. I think he could appreciate the heritage.

If it's a girl, it's named after her family. A boy is named after his. Sounds fair.

Name him Spyridon Michael and be done with it. Let the man honor his father.

I think Spyridon is cool and no worse than Kseniya!

I see no problem with him having the choice if a boy and she having her choice if a girl. We had a similar agreement and similar points/counterpoints..

Why not use Michael as the first name (to avoid bullying and teasing later in life) and use Spyridon as the middle name? You could always call him "Spy" as a nickname.

I think it's a great name! Its unique, old and most importantly carries meaning to you. Even if you don't get your signatures I hope your wife will reconsider her stance. Michael would be a great middle name;)

I admire that you don't want to settle for any common over used name. I will share to help you reach your goal. Best wishes to you and your wife.

Although I believe the mother should have the right to choose since she has to live with the child inside her for eight months, I think Spyridon is a great name! Kudos for trying to preserve your culture.

Tradition is important. It is important to know one's roots and history and sharing a name is one way to do that.

Spyridon is a great name, Michael is definitely overused, would be good as the middle name as a compromise .

What a great name! Everybody and their father is named Michael (no pun intended) it has about as much creativity as John or Bob....obviously her father wasn't one for conventional names. Michael would make a wonderful middle name, don't give up on such a strong, classic name.

In my family, our father named the boys and our mother names the girls.
