Dear Kseniya, I understand this name is not one you would choose, however, there is a real honor that comes with being the father of YOUR SON! It is an honor that as women and moms we don't always understand. I respectfully ask that you allow your husband the father of this child, if it is a son the right give him his namesake. If it is a little girl - then all bets are off! And you get to name her!!

I have a thing for unusual or uncommon names. "Michael" isn't bad, but it's a bit too generic for me.

I totally support you! I'm currently having the same issue. My son is due in late Aug and Earnest is a family name. This is my first boy and I'm the eldest son, I'm currently the third and would like for my son to be the fourth.

I believe a person with a unique name no one else has is empowering. HOWEVER, I believe the definition of Spyridon in the urban dictionary should be taken in to consideration before the final decision is made.

Counterpoint 4 says it all. I love the name Michael for a boy. I agreed my husband would name the boys after his exact name.. first,middle,last (3 so far Jr., III, IV). I would have named my first son Michael. Misha though? No. I agree with the petitioner that all I automatically think of are "B" listers! No way, Spyridon is awesome!! She names #2. That's more than fair. Let him pick it since he's trying so hard.
It's a good name. The wife should at least agree to make it his middle name.

As a non-Greek who is part of the Greek Orthodox Church I understand the need for nameing the child after the grandfather(s). Why not name the child Spyridon Michael....?
