I love it! Coming from someone who has a unique name, I can relate to how beautiful it is. I loved growing up and being the only kid in class who didn't have a typical name. No one had my name and it made me feel special. Even when some people may pronounce it wrong or give me a funny look, they also comment on how beautiful it is or how they've never heard it before. I wouldn't change my name for anything and I think your son will feel the same way. I'm all for having a super cool and unique name! After all, who wants to be like everyone else? That's boring. Make a statement!

Name the boy Spyridon regardless of how many signatures you get. What matters is your belief in the name, not what I think or don't think of the name. Who cares if you don't get 100,000. Stand firm on this! She can name any future kids whatever she wants.

Agree with the Spyridon. The mother gets to carry her son and feels that close bond the father can feel the close bond by naming his son after his grandfather. That is not such a bad name just look at the names the movie stars are naming their children. Spyridon is much better than what they are naming their chldren. You said if it's a girl she will be named after your mother so be fair. His father need to be honored and so does the babies heredity needs to be passed down to him.

actually, if you want to follow the "laws of the greek orthodox church" the naming of the child is up to the godparents and the parents have no say in the choice, whatsoever. Actually, the child will be called baby up to the day they are baptised, which could be more than a year after they are born.

I think it's a beautiful name. In my younger days My boyfriends Name was Spiridon (different spelling pronounced the same. Michael should be his middle name, keep both sides of the family happy.

I like it. Why would you want a common and unimaginative name like Michael when you can name the baby Spyridon? And really, Kseniya, you can't pronounce it? That is like the pot calling the kettle black. You take the second born and pick whatever name you want, give this one to the hubby.
