It's Greek. You can call him Spiro for short if you would like. I think it unfair for the mother to say NO to the grandfather's name but she is all about her mother's name if it is a girl. START OVER If you can't compromise and don't use either name regardless. BUT I am not thrilled about the name Spyridon. However if it is a family name it has a lot more value and honor than a name you randomly pick or like. Not to mention one of my favorite professor's in college was named Spiro. So #TEAMDAD on this one. Sorry Momma

Everyone wins with the name Michael Spyridon Soukeras. As a grandfather, I can tell you that having a grandchild named for you is the ultimate compliment. My grandson has my name as his middle name and I was THRILLED!
