I wouldn't be throwing around terms like "God given" but I do think their compromise if a good one IF they both agree on. Otherwise, I suspect their marriage won't last much longer at all.

Michael would make a lovely middle name to go along with Spyridon. We gave our first born son my fathers name as his first name, my husbands fathers name and his first middle name and then a three generation middle name as his second middle name just to keep everyone happy. Spyridon is unique but also sounds like in your world cultural and historical. I say go for it!

I happen to know two "Spyridon" and they both are well educated, hard workers, faithfull to their girlfrineds.. I would definately recommended!
I think the Mother has a right to name her child, too not just the Father. I am sorry but I disagree with the Father. When naming a child both parents should agree therefore I am saying no to the Father's choice
