My son was born in Rome and I wanted to give him a strong name, so I gave him the middle name Romano...he hated it for years, as a teenager he asked me why I named him after Romano cheese! LOL! Now as a grown man he loves the name. Maybe you should use Spyridon as a mddle name and Michael as his first name and then he can choose what name to be called by. Good luck to you both...keep in mind a healthy baby is what matters most! Love to you both!

Just have him go by the middle name of Michael. I have a lot of friends who I've learned I address by their middle name. I never knew their actual first name untilnthey told me, and I thought it was very cool!

I would very firmly go with "Michael." It is my favorite name (girls would be Michelle). So ... go with Michael!

My first grandson is named after his father, grandfather and great-grandfather. My daughter-in -law didn't like this. She argued against it for over a year, but my son insisted. I think Spiro is great and I hope they go for it. TRADITION!!!

just gotta say one thing, NEVER forget your roots and be proud of that name. Showing your child to embrace it vs. thinking of negative outcome

I am a girl with a traditionally male name, Ryan. Spyridon is an interesting name, if the child doesn't like the name later on he can always change it or go by a nickname. I love the name Michael, but I've always liked having an original name. I say go for it!

There's always a compromise. My wife wanted Tate for our daughter. I hated it. But I got to pick her middle name. Stormageddon. (Dr Who reference) She then changed her mind and wanted Emma. I shortened it to just Storm. Regardless! Let her pick a sweet middle name, or, let her pick child number two's name.
