I believe it should be Spyridon because it is Nicholas's father's name and it is a tradition to name the first born son after the father. I think Michael would be his middle name or the name of the next son.

If he doesn't like his name, he can change it when he turns 18 anyways.

Spyridon is awesome! Unique names are better, (speaking from experience with a common first name)

There are far worse names out there that follow no family tradition. Traditions are fading, keep what's left of them.

It is understandable to want to name your kids afteryour father, since as you stated it is your tradition & your wife's family would be honred with next child around - I see two possible solutions: maybe it would be a consolation to her if you decide to let her name a third child (--if you choose to have 3???) Another option is giving the child a middle name which she alone could choose -- I chose names based on my heritage & family members for my kids & my husband used names based on his heritage which became the kids' middle names

spyridon as his first name and his middle name as Michael. He can choose to be called whichever, but I like spyridon. It's different and he will stand out and be remembered. It's also good that the father wants to keep family tradition. The baby is his firstborn son and he should get this one chance to name him. It's fair that the mother has naming rights for the rest of the possible children.
