I was misnamed at birth due to a poor phone connection between parents. For the first 3 years, my father thought my name was Patricia Lee Johnson, when it was, in fact, Patricia Irene Johnson. It took another 2 years and a name change to get it fixed. They incorporated the Lee and forever gave me headaches when filling out forms. Parental agreement on names when dealing with ethnicity can be difficult. my eldest daughter is named Sapphire Kokui. Her father is from Ghana. the agreement was that I picked the first name since we are iin my country. Kokui means "first born female of the clan". Sapphire was born in September on her due date, on my birthday. Go with tradition. You'll never be sorry you did.

I would recommend Spyridon. But, It's not just about the name. Think about the pain that you wife has to go through during delivery. She should get a chance to decide on the name as well. I had to go through similar situation. I wanted to name my baby gal "Rushika" but my wife wanted it to be "Reyanshi". After much thought I decided to let it go to my wife. I felt she has more rights than me on taking any decision about the baby, not just the name.

In this era, names are coming way too common, does your wife really like the idea of naming your son the most common name out there? Imagine when the child starts school, he will be 1 of 5 Micheals in his class. Calling for him on the play ground, 12 kids come running because you call their name. Now is the time for originality. People will ask him about his name, it will make him less shy by having people asking him about his name.

Good luck! I think it's such a cool name, and it'll for sure give your child a greater sense of identity as he grows. Growing up in the US, and even till now, and probably forever, people have, and will continue to struggle with my name but I love that it's unique here and it's a great conversation starter. Hope you all have a healthy Spyridon :)

My husband insisted our firstborn be named Herbert after himself and his dad. We did but I call him Kenny.
