Both my sons were named after their grandfathers and they are so proud of that. My oldest also has an unusual Greek name and has absolutely no problem with it. I gave them both middle names so they would have a choice and neither of them have chosen to use them. In my family I have four cousins names Spyro

Naming a child after your parent is also honoring the parent. It's very meaningful. People will learn to pronounce it, even though it's really not a hard name at all.

Awesome name. There were 6 kids with my name in my algebra class alone. It is no fun having a common name.

It seems to mean so much more to the father than it does to the mom. You can call him Donny.

Follow the tradition & name your son after his grandpa. It's an honor for him to carry down the family name. I following the same traditions for my children & would've have it any other way.

I support the convention. The Mr's can name allllll the other children, and choose if it's a girl and not a boy. Come on. It's not an awful name, and you'll love your son by any name that he has. Maybe hid destiny hinges on him having this name or no, which seems a little but ordained by God with this whole argument. Plus, also, please, please consider that it is an AWESOME NAME. AWESOME!!!!! I don't know of any culture naming first born sons after the maternal grandfather, or father, but I am familiar with a few guys with old classic unique names that were given to them as an honor from their Papa's Papa - it's tradition. Also, I know countless Michaels - there's even a craft store names Michael

The name Spyridon will set your son up for a lifetime of success and happiness. Micheal is such a generic name no one would ever notice him.
